A sensational and high quality French early 19th century Charles X period, circa 1830, rosewood and satinwood two-door commode. The bottom frieze, raised by inlaid voluté supports, hides a drawer with a detailed satinwood inlay of scrolled foliate branches. Above are richly inlaid doors with designs of scrolled acanthus leaves framed within a Greek key design border. The doors decorated with extremely fanciful hardware open to reveal three satinwood drawers with a lock on the bottom drawer. Above is an inlaid La Tulipe-shaped drawer also with intricate satinwood inlay. All below the original mottled edge white Carrara marble top. Wonderful proportions.
