Vintage Design
A wonderful antique Italian serpentine gilt and ebonised console table with marble top. The wooden base dates to around 1820, the marble has been replaced.
The frieze has floral rosettes in between open roundels, and a central carved gilt ribbon. It stands on scrolling cabriole shaped legs with acanthus leaf decoration.
A number of the floral rosettes have been replaced. The console table is made to fit against the wall without a skirting board. You may need to put a batten on the back to make the top level, otherwise it will be slightly tilting down at the back.
There are signs of use to the finish in places, the ebonised finish is not all smooth and had some missing gesso.
