A grand giltwood wall mirror in the manner of Thomas Johnson with a Rococo frame comprising c scrolls and foliate flourishes and surmounted by a ho-ho bird. A detail typical of Thomas Johnson is the inclusion of an animal, and here a goat teeters on a rocky outcrop. Johnson took inspiration from Aesop’s fables, and the goat is a creature that featured in several of these tales. Original silvered plate.
