A monumental and unusual pair of antique 19th century Japanese porcelain poly-chrome lacquered vases. Each is beautifully designed with koi fish, butterflies, trees, mystical beasts, chrysanthemum flowers, insects and clouds. All decorative aspects are hand-painted with poly-chrome lacquer, which includes red, brown, black, white, green, blue, and yellow. The piece is further adorned with 24-karat gold highlights to the main panels, side panels, and all around the neck and bodies. These are truly incredible pieces and are in terrific condition after over 100 years.

This is an unusual pair of Late Ching Chinese cinnabar-toned coromandel lacquer small altar or side tables. The tops of the tables feature complementary incised and painted scenes from Chinese every day life. Both tables are in very good condition considering their 100+ years of use. Chinese Soapstone, Semiprecious Hardstone and Lacquer Folding Screen

This stunning Chinese screen is an exceptionally well-crafted piece, beautifully decorated with intricate semiprecious hardstone carvings. Measuring six feet in height, this screen has clearly been designed to occupy a prominent position in a room. The screen is made up of six individual folding panels. Each panel is fully lacquered, giving a rich, black hue, and has been designed in three parts: the lower part is square in form and set with a hardstone depiction of a Chinese symbol, while the larger rectangular middle part features hardstone decoration of exquisite colored vases and vessels with intricate, delicate flowers. The upper part is circular in form with hardstone carvings of birds and foliage. The hardstone decorations are mounted onto a black lacquer ground, and the compositions are surrounded by intricate painted scrolling motifs in gilt. The reverse of the screen is more simply decorated with a series of gilt florals and foliage designs on a black ground.

Antique Early Chinese Republic Era Stacking Lacquered Box Set with Dragon Motif

This antique lacquered stacking box set is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from China during the Early Republic period of approximately 1920 and done in a period Chinese Export style. The set is composed of a base and top and three interlocking containers or boxes, with tapered sides. The containers are composed of a softwood, with a deep black lacquered finish and hand crafted decoration. The front of the boxes are done with stylized gilt dragons with red accents and the sides also have gilt decoration with red accents. These stacking sets are sometimes referred to as lunch boxes, and were used initially for a lunch service with several dishes, and storage.
