A pretty pair of Chinese export planters or fish bowls in the famille verte palette depicting robed men and women in a fantastic garden setting with animals, plants, flowers, fans and screens, all in the famille verte taste with additional colors of orange, blue and gray. The settings are framed in a cartouches with decorated borders. The top rims are decorated as well. Each is marked on the underside with Chinese characters of no particular significance. An attractive, decorative and useful pair of vessels. A pair of associated hardwood stands are included. Vessels were made in the second half of the 20th century.

We are delighted to this late 19th century Chinese export jardinière plant stand

A very old and distressed piece with a great patina, we have lightly restored it to include securing the frame, some screws have been fitted, joints glued, the finish is period, there is a timber split along the top and it doesn’t sit perfectly straight
