Important Antique circa 1820 Thomas Chippendale Hand Carved Wingback Armchair

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare and highly collectable, early 19th century circa 1820-1840, hand carved wingback armchair with Thomas Chippendale, fretwork carved legs

A very important piece, possibly made in the workshops of Chippendale or by a former employee, the quality of the carving to the legs is hard to believe, there looks to be an ornately turned leg encased inside the fretwork carved external shell which makes up to form a very beautiful finished article, this was designed by Chippendale and is known as Chinese Chippendale

This chair is in fine order throughout, the upholstery is free from marks, the cushion is feather filled and very comfortable

The timber has been waxed and polished, it has a lovely vintage worn patina all over that you can only achieve through honest age and fair use.

A pair of gentleman’s wing back leather chesterfield library chairs.

These are very roomy chairs, the ultimate in Vintage Country House Chic, the leather upholstery is original with the great character and softness that can only be achieved with use and time.
The chairs have high wing backs with curved arm rests and are set on classic Georgian H frame legs with a slight outward sweep to the back legs.
The chair is strong and sturdy, the leather finish is natural and faded, there are no tears or holes in the well used soft leather.
The back of the chair is 45” high from the ground, it is 34” wide across the front and 32” back to front.

Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this stunning, lightly restored pair of vintage Chesterfield tufted English wingback armchairs with custom made matching footstools which are part of a suite

I have in total a pair of wingback armchairs with matching small footstools and a larger, side table sized stool, the other stool is listed under my other items and not included in this sale

This is a very good looking and well-made suite, it has been upholstered with high grade premium cattle hide leather which has been hand dyed this nice tan brown colour, the leather is held in place with vintage hand hammered studs.

The chairs come with these matching footstools, they have been custom made this size so when not in use they simply slide between the legs of the wingback armchairs. The seat bases are coil sprung and finished with feather filled cushions, the leather is full aniline premium English cattle hide leather, its upholstered plain then hand dyed

Condition wise we have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom, there will be age and use related patina marks here and there, if the new owner wishes I can have these redyed making them look sublime, they would come out a glorious cigar brown colour and it would cost approximately £1200, the reason I have left them as they are is they have a very authentic and desirable finish
