Charles Nicolas ODIOT – Important solid silver tray circa 1840/1860

Large rectangular tray with side handles mounted on four foliage legs. This tray has been mounted with a hammer and entirely chiselled with foliage, arabesques on a matte background. The perimeter and the handles are richly carved with flowers, foliage and fruit.

An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Charles II English sterling silver baby porringer; part of our collectable silverware collection.

This exceptional antique Charles II sterling silver baby porringer has a circular rounded form onto a plain collet foot.

The surface of this porringer bowl is plain and unembellished.

This silver baby porringer is fitted with two impressive C scroll handles.

The underside of this impressive 17th century piece is ornamented with the contemporary engraved initials ‘E.W’.

Note: After surviving the Great Fire of London the records at the London Assay office were destroyed by fire in 1681; their catalogues and documentation began again in 1697. Due to this unfortunate event we are unable to associate a maker to this porringer.

Condition:
This antique sterling silver baby porringer is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the porringer are all very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Charles II English sterling silver porringer; part of our collectable silverware collection.

This exceptional antique Charles II sterling silver porringer has a circular rounded form onto a collet base.

The surface of the porringer is embellished with an impressive chased hunting hound to one side and a stag to the other, all amidst large foliate designs and incorporating pinstruck swirl designs.

This English silver porringer is fitted with two impressive cast, leaf decorated S-scroll handles with elevated figural shaped thumbpieces.

Condition
This antique silver porringer is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The chased decoration is all very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are all clear, in keeping with age and location.

The Body and Lid of the Porringer are embellished with beautiful chased patterns featuring stylised foliate designs. The Lid of the Porringer has an impressive finial mirroring the leafs of the chasing and topped with four faces. Perfect as a centrepiece or display, the porringer is also of a size to be used as a Champagne or Win Cooler.

A good Charles II silver trefid spoon by john King and hallmarked in London in 1683 with a plain rat tail. It has an oval bowl with a thick gauge silver handle with pin engraved initials G & L to the reverse of the terminal.
The hallmarks have some light rubbing commensurate with age and are still legible – please look at the images.
The spoon measures Height: 20 cm Width: 4.5 cm and weighs 53 grams.
