Vintage Gorham Black Starr Silver Plated Lidded Vegetable Serving Platter Dish. Item features an ornate handle and lid, original hallmark, very nice vintage. Circa Mid 20th Century. Measurements: 6″ H x 12″ W x 9.5″ D.

A large cauldron-shaped French faience tureen raised on scrolling tri-form feet, with twin handles and domed lid decorated with hand-painted sprays of roses and borders of vitruvian scrolls. This tureen was made in France in the late 19th century and is in excellent original condition.

Faience was created in France in the 16th century using a tin glaze over an earthenware body. Faience and its European counterparts, delft and maiolica, were created in an effort to reproduce the aesthetics of Chinese porcelains in the West. The tin glaze created a pure white surface on which painters could produce highly ornate scenes with blue and/or polychrome enamels.

Condition: Very good. Flake to glaze on handle measuring 0.75 in. in length.

Trident-like in appearance, the unique antique brass cocktail appetizer forks feature a handle that is a figural mermaid holding a sea shell crown above its head.

Silver plated Art Deco Knife rests, designed by Luc Lanel and made by Christofle in France in the 1930’s for the Gallia line. The pattern is called “arabesque” and each piece is hallmarked.

The knife rests come with their two original boxes.

Knife rests look elegent and help prevent table linens from getting stained.

Noritake Lusterware candy dish in lovely shades of blue and orange with cutouts

Each of these lovely holders has six curved “arms” to support the fruit, and the top spins freely so you can turn the grapefruit as you eat it. The base has a gentle bowl shape to catch all the lost juice. When not being used to serve grapefruit these could also be used to hold a round or pillar candle, or for other serving or decorative uses. These were an expensive luxury item for their time that few could afford, and amazingly have been allowed to develop a gorgeous natural rainbow patina with many interesting swirls and patterns.

Stunning Sterling Silver Leaf, Twig and Berry Motif Sugar or Condiment Spoon. Detailing is just lovely.
