The drawer fronts with walnut inserts of superb colour. The substantial moulded top has cleated ends.
Containing four full-length pull-out drawers, the top drawer fitted with divisions, and centered by an unusual applied carved panel.
All drawers with side runners typical of 17th-century construction.
Raised on short ‘stile’ feet.
The ends are paneled, and the base retains the original bold moulding.
Brass key escutcheons apparently original, the ring handles are 18th-century replacements – which are very much in keeping.
Excellent condition overall, with an old waxed surface of very good, rich color. A very versatile antique chest for use in any room
