Vintage Design
18th century chest of drawers from northern Sweden. The chest is Rococo with pronounced and curved sides and front. The profile is characteristic for the Rococo era and this is an authentic 250 year old example. It is painted with imitation paint made to look like walnut. Furthermore the chest has a made to measure tabletop in white Carrara marble. This is original to the chest and has been with it since the beginning. The hardware is made from brass and original. The frame and feet on which the chest stands is sculpted and decorated with hand carved details. The paint is original but shows some signs of distress and there are some minor losses of paint. The marble has some notches – see detail pictures. There are also some smaller dry cracks but none of the mentioned affects stability or use. The chest of drawers is an original and untouched furniture from the 1700s and will therefore have some signs of use and age. This is natural and expected on anything as old as this chest and gives testament to its long history.
