This 19th century French table made in the reign of Charles X is of an unusual form being square and having a convertible top. The table, made from burled maple, is decorated with walnut sting inlays and solids throughout. The top as shown is centered with a string inlayed rosette surrounded by string inlayed athenaeum. When flipped over the other side displays an inset gilt tooled brown leather top for the playing of cards or as a writing surface. Each side apron is also centered with string inlay designs and has one small lockable drawer. The upright section is composed of 4 grouped turned baluster columns made of solid burled maple and walnut solid rings. The table retains its original casters and key for the drawers and is freshly French polished and ready to use.
