Antique French Hardwood & Marble Desk, 1870s

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare fully restored circa 1870 hardwood and Parquetry Bonheur Du Jour with marble top surmounted by brass gallery rail, leather top and faux books This is an exceptionally fine piece of antique restored French furniture. It’s made from hardwood and has a sublime parquetry inlay, the leather top is original, as is the brass gallery rail and the marble display shelf. The leather bound books are of course faux, they have hidden catches inside which release the doors, if you don’t know where these catches are you can’t open them The piece has been fully restored to include a complete wash back, its then had any timber issues resolved and a full French polish, the leather has also been polished. In terms of the overall condition there is a crack in the top marble, losses to the leather bound books, the internals are untouched as they have the rare paper lining which is very period Dimensions: Height 94.5cm top to bottom, 59.5cm to the desktop alone Width 55cm Depth 40cm
