Vintage Design
A design icon from the Urbanikeller in Vienna, which opened in 1906.
The Urbanikeller was furnished in 1906 by the architects Humbert Walcher Ritter von Moltheim and Robert Oerley on behalf of the innkeeper Karl Hipfinger. Moltheim designed the rooms, Robert Oerley (a trained carpenter and later trained as an architect by Josef Hoffmann) designed the interior (together with Fritz Herzmanovsky-Orlando, who was also a trained architect).
This armchair comes directly from the Hipfinger family estate. Proof of origin is available.
All the other furniture was restored after the closure of the Urbanikeller and brought to the tavern of Hardegg Castle. There they can still be viewed today.
