1930s Pair Of Mucke Melder Original Armchairs – Fully Restored. Founded in the 1920s, in the Czech republic. Mucke Melder was the leading producer of modernist tubular metal based furniture of the time. The industrial use of tubular metal in furniture came from the modernist designs of the iconic Bauhaus movement and the work of Mucke Melder was heavily inspired by this movement and the designs of Mies van der Rohe, Mart Stam and Marcel Bruer amongst others. Sadly little history is known of the Mucke Melder factory, although many of their armchairs have fortunately survived. Our chairs are sourced by ourselves in Czech, we then restore the frames and fully re-upholster them using UK flame resistant foam and fabrics throughout. Beautifully upholstered in a new grey marl pure new wool fabric these chairs are fully restored and exceptionally comfortable with the very gentle spring movement given by the cantilever frames. Seat height 47cm.
