I have a pair of these chairs which have a leather upholstered backs as well, they are listed under my other items
These are pure art furniture from every angle, they just scream huge amounts of age style and charm, the only similar example I have found is currently on exhibition with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, its detailed as the second half of the 16th century which is around 100 years early than this example
The chairs have a stunning timber patina, the first pair depict neoclassical maidens to the backs with Armorial crests to the top and floral Polychrome painted seat bases and arm covers, the second pair have knights with the same floral seat and arms and armorial crests. The correct way to display these chairs is an odd pair so one with the maiden and the other with the knight, its all very romantic!
The timber has been deep cleaned, hand condition waxed and hand polished, it has a good rich glow to it, there is very old signs of worm, maybe 100-200 years old, they have huge amounts of patina as you would expect, nothing which detracts from the sublime look and feel
