A stunning and most elegant French 19th century Charles X st. Ormolu and Crystal chandelier. This impressive eight light chandelier is centered at the bottom by a circular Ormolu reserve decorated by acanthus leaves and lattice patterns surrounding an acorn finial. Leading up to the Ormolu mid section are lovely swaging Crystal garlands connected to a mottled Ormolu tier. Each of the eight arms which are mounted on the mid section and are designed with unique and majestic open winged griffins holding the candle cups on top of their heads. Flanking the griffins are large round richly chased Ormolu foliate wreaths which frame large cut faceted Crystals. Each of the wreaths are also decorated by flowing bottom tied ribbons. Above the mid section are lightly curved swaging Crystal beaded garlands with decorative oval cut Crystal pendants lead up to the top crown. The circular top crown consists of a mottled edged Ormolu band with pierced Ormolu palmettes which have octagonal and diamond cut Crystals hanging atop each palmette.
