This elegant, antique chest of drawers was crafted in France, circa 1870. Built of walnut, the traditional commode with simple lines stands on shaped feet over a thick and raised base plinth; the cabinet features four long drawers across the front including one frieze drawer under the marble. The three middle drawers are dressed with the original bronze pulls and key holes in the center. The surface is dressed with the original variegated shaped black marble top. The Charles X chest of drawers is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina throughout. Versatile, the fruitwood commode could be used in a bedroom for clothing storage, in an entry, or it could be converted into a wonderful vanity cabinet in a powder room with the addition of a sink.
