An impressive and high quality pair of French mid 19th century Charles X period ormolu candelabras of Diana the huntress and Augustus. Each candelabra is raised by a triangular base with concave sides and three striking paw feet with beautiful palmettes. The central supports display large richly cased acanthus leaves below a fluted design and charming swaging floral garlands set on a hammered background. At the centers are Diana the huntress and Augustus. To the left is the beautiful Diana dressed in a wonderfully executed flowing garment with her quiver over her shoulder and bow resting at her side. The handsome Augustus stands to the right, also dressed in period attire with a fine berried laurel wreath in his right hand. Both are holding up stunning and intricately detailed cornucopias with beautiful arrays of intricately detailed fruits and flowers. Elegantly scrolled fluted arms branch off and are adorned with large acanthus leaves, striking laurel leaf candle cups and central arms decorated in the same manner. All original gilt throughout.
