A stunning pair of Italian 19th century Charles X period Mahogany and Maplewood inlaid commodes. Each five drawer commode is raised on unique circular reeded front legs below the bottom concave shaped drawer with a maple bull nose band and inlayed with foliate scrolls amidst birds perched on branches, swans, and a central butterfly framed within a wreath. The three upper sans traverse drawers showcase the beautiful flamed mahogany wood grain. The three central drawers are flanked by cut angled panels with inlays of a whimsical figure standing on top of scrolled foliate branches while holding a branch. The top convex drawer has similar inlaid scrolled foliate branches with a central bouquet of flowers. The Mahogany top is decorated with an elegant mottled outer border.
