\n Artist Paul Romier was born Felix L’heureux in Sangatte in 1919. Growing up poor his dream of studying was fulfilled by a wealthy American uncle who agreed to finance his higher education in return for oil paintings of Paris Street Scenes sent to him as payment. Felix in order to save his money, painted the pieces himself and signed them P. Romier so his Uncle wouldn’t know.
This wonderful pair of painting are examples of those street scenes. One of them is signed P. Romier.
The paintings are muted colors of mustards and turquoise with dark wood frames. A lovely addition to your midcentury decor.
